Sera Davis, Principal Advisor of Davis Art Advisory is pleased to announce our preview opening at 75 Arcade in downtown Nashville. In conjunction with Davis Art Advisory we are very excited to also present THE SHOWROOM, a dynamic gallery featuring international emerging contemporary artists. The program aims to present a unique and approachable perspective on today’s diverse local and international art market while catering to the needs of individual collectors, corporations and the interior design community. THE SHOWROOM offers a distinctive look at a variety of media ranging from sculpture, photography and hand crafted furniture to painting, drawing and vintage posters.
Our soft opening this month is a group show featuring John Ochs, a St. Louis native who offers an extension of the abstract expressionist movement with his series of colorful and painterly shellac works on paper. Ochs' "complete and utter expressive gratification... and not knowing exactly where a work is going to go" is a dialogue shared among many intuitive artists which reverts back to the acclaimed theories of critic Clement Greenberg who argued that, “The intuition that gives you the color of the sky turns into an esthetic intuition when it stops telling you what the weather is like and becomes purely an experience of the color.”
Local photographer, Sandy Burr’s love of photography as a medium reflects back to her earlier work in pen and ink where she explored light and shadow in nature. The sumptuously subtle shadows of magnolias and the vivid, stark shadows of the series featuring pears are two ways she entices viewers to look closely.
And finally, Wisconsin based fine craft woodworker Phil Wallis offers us a sample of his geometrical foundations and diverse organic wooden finishes. Simple, rustic and elegant, Wallis' functional forms are unique creations constructed with wood from all over the world.
Davis Art Advisory and THE SHOWROOM will premier at 75 Arcade on May 3rd during the First Saturday’s Gallery Crawl from 6pm to 8pm. We will offer wine and light appetizers to our guests and patrons.
