Sera Davis

Sera Davis’ diverse background in the arts lends her substantial degrees of appreciation for and knowledge of the art market. Her career ranges from artist and student to gallery director, curator and professional consultant.
THE BEGINNING
After earning a BFA in Studio Art and Arts Administration at Virginia Tech, Sera began an extensive series of master’s courses at Savannah College of Art and Design and New York University in criticism, artist development and corporate collecting. Sera was Art Research Director of University collections at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, handling all collection management, cataloging and restorations for the University’s private collections which occupy over 16 buildings. Her career at the University expanded into the gallery world as Assistant Director of the University Gallery for the next three years.
NEW YORK CITY

After involvement with various other galleries and institutions, Sera made the plunge into the most saturated and highly esteemed art market in the world, New York City. She began her relentless attendance at all of the major art fairs, further developing her relationships and enabling her to place "a finger on the pulse."

Starting her career as Director of International Projects and Assistant Gallery Director in the Chelsea Gallery district, Sera decided to shift her energies and expand her horizons as a corporate Art Consultant and Curator for Anglo Irish Bank. For the next three years Sera worked with the corporation’s executives, interior designers and architects to develop, expand and catalogue their corporate art collection in their NYC, Chicago and Boston locations.

The collection, totaling more than 90 specifically chosen fine art pieces, exuded the professional credibility, aesthetic vitality and everyday stimulation that the company desired for their clients and personnel. Sera achieved this through building an eclectic contemporary collection of emerging artists with in their budget. The investment reflected the ambitious and dynamic modern vision that the multi-billion dollar investment bank wished to portray.

NASHVILLE
In 2007, Sera decided to develop her own advisory business, Davis Art Advisory in an effort to extend her knowledge, experience and insight to a variety of individual collectors and businesses. She continues to visit the art fairs nationally in her continuous pursuit of the pulse of the art world. Her passion for art, artists and the importance of collecting has pioneered an approachable and unique, creative outlet and investment vehicle for the novice and experienced collectors of Middle Tennessee and beyond.
